Huehuetoca, State of Mexico – On Wednesday, November 20, a major multi-vehicle collision paralyzed traffic on the Mexico-Querétaro Highway. The accident occurred at kilometer 059+000, near the municipality of Huehuetoca, when a trailer, unable to brake in time, crashed into several vehicles and came to rest across all three northbound lanes, forcing a partial shutdown of the highway.
What Caused the Collision?
The trailer was headed toward Mexico City when it failed to slow down before reaching the Jorobas intersection. It first slammed into a roadside embankment before plowing into five cars and a pickup truck. Rain had left the road slick, and authorities suspect weather and road conditions may have contributed to the accident. An official investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
Injuries and Emergency Response
Paramedics quickly arrived on the scene to assist the injured. Fortunately, none of the victims sustained serious injuries. However, as a precaution, several were advised to seek further medical attention at nearby hospitals to rule out potential complications.
Fuel Spill Causes Another Highway Closure
In a separate incident on the same highway, a tanker trailer leaked fuel at kilometer 95.5, near Soyaniquilpan de Juárez. This prompted the full closure of all lanes in that section, triggering extensive traffic delays.
Authorities continue to urge drivers to exercise caution, especially in rainy conditions, and to remain alert for updates on traffic disruptions along the Mexico-Querétaro route.
