BREAKING: Pope Leo XIV expresses his “heartfelt condolences” to the victims of the tragic mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis with a moving statement.

If only Americans had a leader with even a fraction of this compassion…

According to Vatican News, the pope sent his message via Telegram to Archbishop Bernard Hebda of Minneapolis, expressing his “heartfelt condolences and the assurance of spiritual closeness to all those affected by this terrible tragedy, especially the families now grieving the loss of a child.”

The message from the pope was sent in the name of his Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and said “while commending the souls of the deceased children to the love of Almighty God, His Holiness prays for the wounded as well as the first responders, medical personnel and clergy who are caring for them and their loved ones.”

“At this extremely difficult time, the Holy Father imparts to the Annunciation Catholic School Community, the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and the people of the greater twin cities metropolitan area his Apostolic Blessing as a pledge of peace, fortitude and consolation in the Lord Jesus,” he added.

Meanwhile, Trump released a brief statement on Truth Social claiming that he is “praying for everyone involved” when in reality we all know that Trump wouldn’t know how to pray if his life depended on it.

The shooting occurred during a mass at Annunciation Catholic School, which tends to students from preschool up to eighth grade. Two children aged 8 and 10 were killed and 17 others were injured. The shooter is dead. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that the killer used a rifle, shotgun, and a pistol.

Horrors like this one will continue to terrorize our communities as long as Republicans continue to stonewall common sense gun laws. We have the power to end this gun violence epidemic, we just need the political willpower to do it. Vote Republicans out of office and demand change.
