From Supportive to Skeptical: Donald Trump’s Dramatic Shift on Joe Biden’s Cancer Diagnosis
When news broke that President Joe Biden was battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer, Donald Trump initially offered surprisingly supportive words. But by Monday, the former president’s tone had taken a sharp turn — publicly questioning why such serious information hadn’t been disclosed “a long time ago.”
Cancer’s Spread Raises Alarms
Biden’s revelation stunned the world. Though he has faced health battles before — including previous cancers — this diagnosis is particularly alarming: the cancer has metastasized to his bones, signaling an advanced and aggressive stage.
Yet, hope remains. Biden’s medical team confirmed the cancer appears “hormone-sensitive,” meaning it can be effectively managed with treatment.
Speaking to the BBC, Dr. William Dahut, Chief Scientific Officer at the American Cancer Society and a prostate cancer specialist, explained that once cancer spreads to the bones, it’s generally not considered curable. However, many patients respond well to treatment and can live for many years with the disease.
Sympathy and Suspicion Collide
The announcement drew heartfelt messages from supporters and well-wishers around the globe. But amid the compassion, some voices — particularly Biden’s political opponents — zeroed in on the timing and transparency of the news.
Donald Trump Jr. was among the most vocal skeptics, reposting a pointed message questioning how First Lady Jill Biden, a highly educated professional, could have missed such a grave diagnosis — even insinuating it might be “yet another coverup.”
Now, Donald Trump himself is fueling doubts with a blunt challenge to the official story.
“Why Wait So Long?”
At a press conference Monday, Trump expressed shock that the public hadn’t been informed earlier about Biden’s cancer.
“I think to get to stage 9, I think that, if you look, it’s the same doctor who said Joe was cognitively fine,” Trump said, referencing previous medical assessments of Biden. “Maybe it was the same doctor, and somebody is not telling the facts.”
Though Trump said he felt “badly” about the diagnosis, he urged the public to dig deeper and “find out what happened.”
The Truth Behind the Numbers
Technically, cancer doesn’t have a “stage 9.” Biden’s diagnosis specifies a Gleason score of 9 — a grading that indicates a very aggressive prostate cancer with bone metastasis.
Experts suggest Biden’s condition could have developed over years. Urologist Dr. David Shusterman told News Nation that Biden has received top-tier care from world-class specialists while in office, and such advanced cancer typically develops slowly over a long time.
“This is what I would usually see in a VA hospital, where a patient hasn’t had medical attention for 10 years, comes in with bone pain, and is then diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer,” Shusterman said.
Trump’s Health Spotlight
While calling the news “very sad,” Trump seized the moment to highlight his own robust health.
“I underwent a comprehensive physical, including cognitive tests. I’m proud to announce I aced it — got them all right,” he said, with a pointed glance at reporters. “If I didn’t, these people would be after me. It wouldn’t be a good situation.”
He also pushed for mandatory cognitive testing for presidential candidates — a clear jab amid ongoing debates about age and fitness in the 2024 race, which Biden ultimately exited.
